Pet hygiene

You can't rely on pets to wash themselves every time they come in from the garden. And that's how they give germs an easy route into your home. But you can still live with pets hygienically. It’s all about the cleaning you can do. Take extra care about handwashing, and cleaning the things they come into contact with, as well as regularly washing floors.

Domestos can help keep your home hygienically clean if you have pets. Follow these golden rules:

  • Make food preparation areas a pet-free zone: pets shouldn't be allowed on these surfaces at all. If they do jump up, clean the surface immediately with Domestos Bleach Spray, before preparing any food.

  • Wash floors regularly: surfaces used by pets and pet feeding areas should be regularly cleaned with Domestos Extended Germ-Kill, especially if babies or young children are crawling or playing on the floor.

  • Careful with litter trays: wipe them down regularly with Domestos Bleach Spray. And wash your hands after cleaning them. Keep litter trays away from food preparation areas and from children.

  • Keep cages and fish bowls clean: wipe cages with Domestos Bleach Spray and change all bedding on a regular basis. Take care not to wash fish bowls in your kitchen sink.

  • Feed pets separately: give them their own dishes and set aside cutlery that you only use for their food. Keep their feeding areas clean and give bowls, bottles and trays a squirt with Domestos Bleach Spray regularly.

How to clean up dog or cat urine

Soak up excess liquid with an old towel as quickly as you can. Then use specialist carpet cleaner from a pet store. It’ll contain chemicals specifically designed to break down the bacteria in the urine.
